Jesmarie’s Sweet One Ice Cream Cake Smash

There is something so special about watching a tiny newborn grow into a happy, curious one-year-old. As a Jacksonville, NC newborn photographer, I first had the honor of photographing sweet Jesmarie during her newborn session. Having her return to Miner Portrait Studio for her first birthday cake smash was such a joy!

Her “Sweet One” session featured pastel, girly colors, adorable ice cream cones and the cutest little ice cream truck. The entire setup was perfectly sweet and playful—just like the birthday girl herself.

Jesmarie arrived calm and content, giving me the sweetest smiles throughout her session. She also kept sticking out her little tongue, which made her expressions even more adorable! Those tiny, natural moments are often the ones that show a baby’s personality best and become some of the family’s favorite portraits.

Of course, no cake smash would be complete without a little mess and plenty of fun. My favorite moment was when Jesmarie decided that using her hands wasn’t enough and put her foot right into the cake! It was such a funny and perfectly memorable first-birthday moment.

Being able to photograph Jesmarie as both a newborn and a one-year-old has been incredibly special. Babies change so much during their first year, and I love helping families preserve each stage with beautiful portraits they can look back on for years to come.
